Class Difficulty: Basic
Role: Damage/Tank
Available to races: Dwarf, Elf, High Elf, Hobbit, Man, River Hobbit, Stout-axe
Gameplay: Champions are masters of melee combat, dealing significant damage to their enemies. A champion may choose to fight in rapid and fierce one-on-one combat with an opponent, or whirl their blades to deal massive damage to all nearby foes. With each strike, their Fervour increases, allowing them to use their most potent skills. In Fellowships, a Champion's role is to deal considerable damage to the forces of evil. Champions may alternatively choose to serve as a Tank, drawing enemy's focus to themselves and sustaining against relentless attacks.
Lore: Unrelenting in battle, Champions are the consummate warriors. A Champion cares not for their own well-being, but relies instead on strength and prowess to slay the Enemy before they can bring further destruction to Middle-earth.
This class is inspired by Gimli son of Glóin, whose skill in arms matched the bow-skills of Legolas.

Role in a Fellowship

The Champion's most popular role in a Fellowship is to deal damage, either against a single target, or against multiple targets. They excel in dealing burst damage, ideal for quickly defeating their opponents. While Champions can also choose to fulfill the Tank role in a Fellowship, it is an unpopular choice, as their self-sustainability and group support is weaker than other tanks in the game, such as Guardian, Captain, and Brawler. Champions' major support contribution is Champion's Challenge, which significantly reduces their target's damage for a short duration of time. They can also use Horn of Gondor to Stun nearby enemies, which is useful for controlling large numbers of enemies.

Fervour

Fervour is a unique resource to Champions, and is spent on using their most powerful attacks. On entering combat, the Champion will have no Fervour. Skills such as Wild Attack and Swift Strike build up to 5 Fervour, which can be expended on skills such as Brutal Strikes and Blade Storm. Different skills cost different amounts of Fervour, ranging from 1 to all 5 pips.

Mounted Combat Skills

These skills can be used only while riding a war-steed, and only while in the regions of East Rohan, Wildermore, and West Rohan. Passive skills which improve the war-steed's defensive capabilities remain effective even in other regions, but serve only to prevent forced dismount due to enemy attacks.
