Tasks Bulletin Board

Description

Each Task-master throughout Middle-earth, as well as Dudo Chubb in Hobbiton, offers the following explanatory FAQ:

What is a task?

Tasks are repeatable quests using routine trophy drops from monsters (frequently called "vendor trash"). Tasks will always reward players with experience, most will award players with reputation for a particular faction, and will never reward players with coin or items. Tasks with a quest level above 50 also award Legendary Experience (IXP). Each day each character can complete up to a quota of five tasks.

What is the task quota?

Your task quota (or "task limit") is the number of tasks your character can complete per day. All characters begin the game with a quota of five tasks. Your quota can be increased to 10 by earning Upgrade Task Limit (+1) tokens from task deeds.

Alternately, you can unlock permanent increases to the maximum quota by clicking the "Increase Task Limit" button in the Quest Log and paying 20   for +1 extra task. You can increase your daily task quota to a maximum of 15, either by paying Mithril Coins, or by transferring the tokens from alts.

What is a quota reset?

The task quota resets to zero every day at 3:00 a.m. server time. The daily quota can also be reset for 10  .

Where can I find tasks?

Tasks are found on bulletin boards throughout Middle-earth. These bulletin boards are typically found in larger social centres. Tasks will begin at the bulletin board and typically end with an NPC located within the same social centre.

Where do I turn in my tasks?

• Most tasks on the Bulletin Board will tell you where (i.e. who) to turn in your task to.
• At some places a Tasks Collection Box (typically adjacent to the Bulletin Board) replaces the Task-master.

Task conditions

• Available starting at level 5
• The number of tasks completed so far during the day and your current daily limit are visible at the top of the Quest Log
• Tasks require 10 items to complete, unless otherwise noted
• There are 5 deeds associated with completing tasks that reward Upgrade Task Limit (+1) and Titles:
  • The Up-and-Comer: complete 100 tasks
  • The Go-getter: complete 200 tasks
  • The Busy Bee: complete 300 tasks, also receive Cloak of the Busy Bee
  • The Eager Beaver: complete 400 tasks, also receive Cloak of the Eager Beaver,
  • The Hot Shot: complete 500 tasks, also receive Hot Shot Cloak

Plugins

"DailyTasks" is a LOTRO plugin that allows a player to perform a variety of Task-related queries on trophy drops in the player's inventory, vault, or shared storage. It is fast and only requires 84 Kb of memory.

History of Tasks

• "Tasks Bulletin Boards" were introduced in November 2010.
• With the release of Update 6: Shores of the Great River - March 12, 2012, Tasks, in the Great River Region were turned in to the Task Bulletin Board itself.
• With the release of Update 7.1 Moria Revision Part I - May 30, 2012, Tasks were introduced into Moria for the first time.
• Prior to the release of Update 8, Riders of Rohan, most tasks required 4, 8, or 15 items depending on drop rate for the associated item.
• With the release of Update 13, The Breaking of Isengard, there is no longer a maximum level to get and complete a task.
  • While item counts have now been set at 10 for most quests, item drop rates have not changed so tasks that used to require 4 items are now harder to finish
• With the release of Update 27, "Trophy items that cannot be turned in for tasks are no longer classified as task items. They will also no longer go into Task Carry-alls. Instead, these items will be classified as "Junk" and display as Junk in the item tooltips."
