Dale (Basnbizar / Bizar in Khuzdul) is a city and area located within the area of the Dale-lands in Eryn Lasgalen and the Dale-lands. ^{[24.8N, 25.6W]} Dale was originally called Dál-haim, which became Dálheim, which passed then to Dale-home, which was shortened to Dale. All previous variants mean the same, but show a gradual shift from Northern language to Westron.

Lore

The Dale-lands cover the lands between Erebor and Esgaroth below the Lonely Mountains. The township of Dale was destroyed when Smaug descended from the Dwarf-kingdom of Erebor, The Lonely Mountain. The men of the Dale-lands then dwelt on the Long Lake and were known as Lake-men until the township of Dale was re-founded by Bard, the descendant of its lords, 80 years later.
