Járnfast is a settlement located within the area of the Iron Hills in Ered Mithrin and Withered Heath. ^{[28.4N, 3.6W]}

Járnfast, the Ironfort, is the great stronghold of the Iron Hills, founded in Ages past by Farin Blackmattock. Járnfast was destroyed in the Breaking of Thangorodrim at the end of the First Age but rebuilt by Lord Grár the Grave with the help of the Zhélruka in the Great Mending. Grár also sealed Rukhûsh-minam and the creatures within, a seal that has remained strong through to the end of the Third Age. Náin the Slakeless rules the Iron Hills from Járnfast.
