This seemingly serene clearing in the forest is located straight east of the Old Forest Tunnel. Many adventurers see it as a crossroad, a marker in a wood where signs and maps don't help much. However, long ago this was the place of a battle between the hobbits of Buckland and the trees of the Old Forest.

"'They do say the trees do actually move, and can surround strangers and hem them in. In fact long ago they attacked the Hedge: they came and planted themselves right by it, and leaned over it. But the hobbits came and cut down hundreds of trees, and made a great bonfire in the Forest, and burned all the ground in a long strip east of the Hedge. "The Bonfire Glade is right near the entrance. You just come through the tunnel under the hedge and then head east 'till you get there. There are two fairly clear paths at the eastern and southern edges of the cleared space. If you head south, the trees get close on the left, so take the right path and follow it around to the east to Little Bald Hill.
