Stock is a settlement located within the area of the Marish, in the Shire. ^{[32.1S, 63.8W]}

Being the last hobbit village before the Brandywine Bridge, or being the first resting place when arriving to the Shire, Stock is a busy conjunction. The old Great East Road bends itself around the famous Golden Perch Inn, which also is where the Stock Road ends, or starts, whichever is your destination.

A handful of hobbits unsatisfied with the Bounders handling of troubles in the area has lead to the formation of the Vigilance Committee, a sort of neighborhood watch.

Stock is founded no earlier than III 1601 (year 1 by the Shire-reckoning) and survived into the Fourth Age. It is particularly associated with the Puddifoot family. The name probably means "outlying village". — Lorebook
