Just above the Bagshot Row lies an orchard that used to grow some of the sweetest fruit, nursed by Gaffer Gamgee. However, the tight-fisted Lobelia and Lotho Sackville-Baggins recently sacked Gaffer Gamgee before he had time to gather the apples, so now they are left to rot or be eaten by shrews.
