Walkthrough & Notes

There are five cracks in the foundations outside: One on the left and one on the right, on the patios on the level of the stable-master; and three more on the lower level, one just to the right of the stairs as you go down, and one at the very far end of each side of the patio. The remaining 10 cracks are inside: four in the south branch, two straight ahead (east) from the entrance, and four in the north branch (one is up the ramp, another in the throne room). If you swift travel to Járnfast, the quest will not trigger until you go back down the entry staircase.

Bestowal dialogue Investigate the rumours about the structural integrity of Járnfast. Background Investigate the rumours about the structural integrity of Járnfast. Objective 1 Talk to Spall You should talk to Spall about the foundations of Járnfast. Spall: 'Járnfast! This much we can say without any inspection: It has not been shaken to the ground. To be proper record-keepers, however, we must get closer and inspect any cracks in the stone from without and from within.' Objective 2 Inspect cracks around Járnfast (0/15) You should examine cracks in the stonework of Járnfast, both inside and out. CRACK "A crack in the foundations of Järnfast." Objective 3 Talk to Spall Now that you have inspected a great number of the cracks apparent in Járnfast's stonework, you should talk to Spall. Spall: 'Many of the flaws in Járnfast's stone are older than you or I, <name>, though a few are clearly new. Stonemasonry is among the lore I have studied in my days, and I can state with good authority that there is no fear of Járnfast tumbling today, or in a hundred years, barring some fresh calamity.'
