- This page is about Náin the Slakeless, Lord of the Ironfold. For other dwarves of the same name, see Náin (disambiguation).
Description
Náin the Slakeless (Northern for Corpselike) is the fourth Lord of the Iron Hills. He is brother to King Thorin III and uncle to Prince Durin. He wields the black mattock Narag-felak (Khuzdul for the Blackhewer). Since his grandfather Náin Orcsfoe is one of the Marasrân, Náin the Slakeless is counted among the Kharum-ubnâr.
He has a gold ear, steel teeth, and agate eye from wounds received in the battle for Erebor and the Battle of the Five Armies.
Not one to remain on his throne for long, he joins the War of Three Peaks and the conquest of Gundabad, where he is fated to run afoul of the terrible power of Hrímil Frost-heart.
