The Ikorbâni

This is the name given to the Shagâni folk of the Ikorbân Valley, including those of Ambarûl, Imhûlar, and the Khûd. Desperate to be masters of their own fate, they are fighting to throw off the shackles of the Great Southern Empire of Ordâkh and the influence of the Fane of the All-seeing to chart their own course in a renewed Shagâna.
Lore

The Ikorbâni are the people of the Valley of Ikorbân, a diverse riverland folk shaped by the long and often violent history of Shagâna. They take their name from the river Ikorbân that runs through their valley, sustaining the land and binding together its many regions: Ambarûl, Khûd Zagin, Imhûlar, and Urash Dâr. Though distinct in dialect, custom, and local allegiance, the Ikorbâni share a strong sense of identity rooted in the fertile vale of their homeland, which has endured centuries of famine, war, and foreign domination.
During the early Third Age, the Ikorbâni were united under the Shârate of Hamât, founded by Aragín the Queller. Under his reign, and through those of his successors, the Ikorbâni experienced the famed Years of Joy, when peace, prosperity, and open trade flourished. The people remember this time as a golden age, and its memory has fueled repeated attempts to restore Hamâti rule, even into the present day with the rebellion in Imhûlar.
The civil war known as the Madâr — or Realm-cleaving — fractured Ikorbâni unity. Some regions, most notably Ambarûl, remained loyal to Queen Luzími and her heirs, while others followed the rebels in the east. The intervention of Gondor and Khand deepened the divide, and when peace was finally imposed by the merchants of Jaghâna, the valley was left permanently split. Ambarûl in particular was removed from both Hamât and Erêsh, ruled instead by the Ibili council as a neutral shield between rival realms.
In later centuries, the Empire of Ordâkh invaded, bringing conquest and the spread of the Barkhûshim faith. Many Ikorbâni were compelled to abandon their worship of Írmu and submit to the cult of Barkhûsh, marking what some chroniclers call the Time of Pyres. Even so, the Ikorbâni retained their sense of belonging to the valley, and their memory of the Shârate endured. Today, they are divided between those who submit to Ordâkhai remnants and those who rally to Mizâdi in the cause of Renewed Hamât, yet all remain Ikorbâni, heirs to a land both blessed and scarred by its past.
