Laying by Northway that connects the Great East Road with Oatbarton, Budgeford became a trade and crafting centre for hobbits across all farthings. Yet today travellers find good services.

Budgeford is the primary home of the large Bolger family, a family of Fallohide origins. Among the notable Bolger family members is Fredegar "Fatty" Bolger who helped Frodo Baggins depart from Bag End and travel to Crickhollow at Buckland in September of III 3018.
