Mering Stream

The Mering Stream (Glanhír in Sindarin) forms the border between the realms of Gondor and Rohan, together with the White Mountains and the Mouths of Entwash. [1] The river flows through the forest of Firienholt, which grew about the mountain Halifirien in Anórien in Gondor, joining with the River Entwash just below Snowbourn. The last of the Warning beacons of Gondor stood on its edge observed by Beaconwatch [69.6S, 57.4W] on its west bank in the Eastfold in West Rohan.

The Mering Stream pours down from the White Mountains, almost all Gondorian rivers. Its entire length delinates the border betwen Gondor on the east bank, and Rohan on the west.
-
The river continues down the gorge through a series of short falls, passing the Firien Wood to the east.
-
As the land widens, so does the river, and it loses speed as it glides north toward Beaconwatch.
-
The river's only crossing is a ford tucked between giant reeds, just past the Mering's only side river.
-
Rohirrim guard the crossing, and a giant Pukel-man marks the former border of the Drúedain, now confined further east in Taur Drúadan.
-
The riverside is part of Fenmarch and is marked by beautiful red willows and a view of the Halifirien beacon.

The Mering Stream finally flows into the greater Entwash just as it gets close to the Mouths of Entwash and the great Anduin beyond.
