Mordor project
Hey there. You may or may not be aware of the Mordor project page yet: Lotro-Wiki.com:Mordor. Here we try to keep track of what still needs doing for Mordor on the Lotro-wiki. I've added you to the Quest contributors. You're very welcome to edit the project page with progress etc. :) --Ravanel (talk) 01:56, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Re:Thanks and Promotion
Thank you for the kind words and the promotion. I am a fairly new Wiki user, so I really appreciate the encouragement. I hope posting this reply here is a suitable way to respond to your messages. I just wanted to let you know that I have finished updating the Task pages for the time being, as I have yet to attempt any tasks in Lotro beyond Forochel. I plan to complete all available tasks in the game as I progress through future regions and then update their Wiki pages as I go, but that may take some time. I figured I should reach out and let you know, so it doesn't seem like I disappeared right after you promoted me. Thanks again. (HunterMike94 (talk) 22:43, 18 June 2021 (UTC))
- Yep response here is perfectly fine :) You can also respond on your talk page as well via edit, though doing this way made sure I got an email notifying me of a response so it works as well. We were all new at some time and it took me quite a while of doing the small edits to quests where I saw issues like you've been doing to get comfortable doing the bigger stuff like the Azanulbizar category Im currently working on. Feel free to edit any little stuff you find or whatever you like we all have our niche, for some its deeds, or adding images etc. Grats again :) Eldalleth (talk) 22:53, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Reputation Item(s)
I notice there is an Under Construction tag on the "Reputation Items" page, with your name on it.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on improving the page.
At a minimum, I'd like to see a column in the table with cells pointing to the gating quests (since SSG, in their infinite wisdom, decided that such things should be quest-gated).
Also, I'd like to see another column which indicates whether the reputation is "multi-purpose" or not. I've been trying to promote the concept of "multi-purpose" consumable rep items, which can *either* be consumed for reputation, or used for barter with the relevant faction. I've already introduced the "multi-purpose" terminology for some of the The Wastes items (e.g. Item:Provisions (Wastes), but it hasn't gained traction yet, with other wiki editors. Multi-purpose items, of course, sit at the intersection of reputation items and barter items, which might present some categorization issues, but I think it's important to flag multi-purpose items on the wiki, otherwise users may consume items, for rep, and discover that they're short for barter. Proper planning requires that they understand the uses of the item, from the outset.
My thought is that the "multi-purpose" column wouldn't just be a yes/no (aka boolean), but, where it applies, would be a link to the barter NPC, for convenient navigation.
What do you think? Two extra columns? I don't want to make the table too "busy". I have access to all of those factions, so I can verify all the additions to the table (although I have my doubts about the Eglain rows, since I've opened many level 20 lootboxes, and I don't think I've ever seen those rep items -- they might be obsolete).
P.S. I created a #REDIRECT from singular "Reputation Item" to "Reputation Items", for easy navigation. (Unsigned comment by Egarthur)
- Hey Egarthur, I started on the plan for the Reputation Items and then noticed at the time that all links were still items and asked in discord if they should be changed over to Reward. It took a few days for an answer and in that time I forgot about it and worked on other stuff. I do plan on the column with cells pointing to the quests. As far as the "multi-purpose" column I like the idea of it and would be happy to have help with that part :) Eldalleth (talk) 23:27, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
Re: LM Edits
Girl it took me so long to figure out that I was looking at an edited personal page and not a direct message system that I didn't understand, haha! Thank you for the appreciation, it's incredibly encouraging actually. I paused my edits while I level up a new LM so I can continue my edits with a character of that level instead of my max-level character. You'll see more of me soon!! - Kneppa (talk) 18:52, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Re: Milestone Edits
The Milestones page says to coordinate with you, so this is my attempt, heh. I added one for Taur Druadan, but can't figure out the location tooltip. Copy/pasted from a working page (Drû Bhûta) and just changed the coords, but it still says the Taur Druadan map is unknown. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jaybone (Contribs • User Talk) at 18:54 14 May 2023.
IDs
How do you gather the Icon and Item_ID numbers so I can ensure I use them moving forward? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sucamarto (Contribs • User Talk) at August 3, 2024.
- Item Id's are from Item Treasury plugin in game from Lotro Interface Item Treasury. The Icon id's I got from the file that Drono had posted in Discord in the Wiki Data channel. All the Icon's are added now so all you should need to do on the pages is use the id from the Category:Birding Hobby Icons. As SSG reused the same 27 over and over again. Thanks for the help getting stuff added and saw you fixed a few of my late night edit fails as well.
- Also make sure when adding North Downs and Misty Mountains on the foundin line that they do not have "The" before them it says it on the in game tooltip but in game itself and on wiki neither have The before them. This means if the template sees "The" North Downs its assuming its not a location and adding it to Stubs/Location. Eldalleth (talk) 05:07, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
Regarding Birds
Hi Elda! I wanted to bring up a couple of things regarding the birds in the wiki.
I've filled in some of the missing descriptions in the bird pages currently under construction (i.e. the Sindarin and alternative names), just to save you some time. Also, I've noticed that there's two pages dedicated to Drûen's Bunting/Drúen's Bunting, each with different spelling. I've checked in-game, and I believe the latter spelling is the correct one, just so you are aware before any changes were made to that.
Hope you're doing well! --Sinordloresearcher (talk) 04:37, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for filling in the missing descriptions. I did delete the incorrectly spelled page now for the Bunting. Also, of note I removed the categories you added manually to a number of the bird pages as the Template handles that. Added the missing categories to the Template so they function properly now. As well as moved the categories that were plural names to singular so the Template works right with them not Stub/Birds them. I do appreciate the help on them, seriously thought I got all the bird types in Beta lol but have seen a number I missed. Eldalleth (talk) 07:55, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
Hi, wanted to share something about droprates and skill-level, maybe something to share on the birding page:
Skill Level | Bird Type | Droprate |
---|---|---|
1 | common | 8.33% |
10 | uncommon | 6.25% |
40 | rare | 4.17% |
60 | incomparable (rarest) | 2.08% |
Percentages go up if you have not reach skill lvl 60 yet, so if you're 10 droprate for common birds is 9.76%. Also, not sure if noticed yet but I completed 4 zones so far without moving a spot (after mapping), so which means all birds can be found on the same spot as long as you're in the correct zone (and skill level is +60). - Tiberivs (talk) 17:05, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
