Rhimdath

The Rhimdath (Sindarin for Rushdown) is a river in Rhovanion. It is a short, early tributary of the Anduin. It flows from the Misty Mountains eastward into the Anduin shortly after the Langwell-Greylin confluence in a steep gradient.

  The northern branch of the Rhimdath falls down from the Misty Mountains north of Lyndelby.

  The branch of the river then pools up into a lake nestled between the mountains and the fields of the holbytlan.

  The river branch bends around the cliffs, feeding weeping willows and varous animals of the gorge.

  The hidden road to Lyndelby crosses the north branch in a bridge, where the Great Eagle Fanglind perches.

  The north branch then proceeds through the gorge towards its sister branch.

  The southern branch of the Rhimdath also originates from the Misty Mountains, but south of Lyndelby.

  Like its sister, its clear mountain waters feeds willow trees and quenches the thirst of the local wildlife.

  Unlike its sister, the south branch has no lake, and merely flows directly east through the valley.

• 

  The south branch also has its own bridges, but these are small and lead only to a secluded dwelling on the side of the valley.

  The south branch eventually enters the gorge where it joins with its northern sister.

• 

  The north and south branches join together close to the end of the hidden valley.

• 

  The united branches of the Rhimdath travel a short stretch together through the outer gorge.

  Soon after, the cliffside forces the river into a steep set of drops.

• 

  The steep gradient of the river here gives it its name as it plummets to the vales far below - the Rushdown.

• 

  At the bottom of the falls, the Rhimdath joins the flow of the newly-formed Anduin, making it count as one of the Wells of Langflood together with the Langwell, Wyrmsgráf and Greylin rivers.
