Spring Festival

Overview
The Spring Festival is a celebration of nature and new growth. It features events to collect flowers, navigate a hedge maze, run along a fence while drunk, and discourage shrews from eating fresh plantings. With each new season the vendors often provide a new mount, cosmetic attire, housing items, pets, and more.

Festivities
The Hedge Maze

- Main article: The Hedge Maze
This maze built by tall hedges is available year round on the eastern side of the Festival Grounds with entrances on the west and east side of the maze. However during the Spring Festival, there are several Maze-masters standing at the main entrance on the west side who offer Daily quests to navigate your way through the maze. In the middle of the maze is a beer garden where many festival-goers stop to imbibe.
Stomp-a-Shrew

- Main article: Stomp-a-Shrew
The Stomp-a-Shrew event was first added during Spring Festival 2010. It is held every spring inside a cave leading to the Festival Garden at Duillond, in Ered Luin. The actual Stomp-a-Shrew event is repeated every 9 minutes. In addition, there are several optional quests available to players many of which are repeatable daily.
Gathering Flowers
- Main article: A Fistful of Flowers
The Gathering Flowers event was first added in 2008 as part of Valentine's Day. It was later removed for a couple years before being brought back as part of Spring Festival 2012. This event starts in Bree with you helping a love-struck man cultivate a budding romance and finishes with you gathering many of Eriador's signature flowers.
The Feast of the Greenfields

- Main article: The Feast of the Greenfields
The Feast of the Greenfields was first added during Spring Festival 2009 and is partially an in-game tribute to St. Patrick's Day. It is held every spring just east of Brockenborings in the Greenfields. The Hobbits of the Shire pay their respects to Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took, who led the defense of the Shire the last time the goblins invaded in 2747 of the Third Age. The feast culminates in the drinking game Bullroarer's Challenge, based on how Bandobras use to run atop the fences of the Great Smials to stay in shape and hone his reflexes as the legend goes.
General Festival Events
Festival Dances
- Main article: Dance of the Races
During all seasonal Festivals, Dance Leaders will teach characters up to eight special racial dances (two from each Race) by completing dance lessons. There is one Dance Leader located in each of the festival grounds of Thorin's Hall Inn and the Festival Garden in Ered Luin, The Party Tree in the Shire, and the Festival Grounds in Bree-land.
Dance lessons take place approximately every 20 minutes, and the quests are available for about 5 minutes before the dance begins. As of U20, the quest start times are random.
When the Dance Leader starts, target the leader and follow their instructions using the commands /dance1, /dance2, or /dance3 as they instruct you. The time to perform each step decreases with the quest's progression.
At the end of the lesson, the Dance Leader returns to their original position and you are able to select your reward: either the first or second dance emote from that race. Complete the lessons again to learn all the dances! You can do one (successful) dance per day for each race.
Festival Horse Races
The Bree Derby - Main article: Festival Horse Races
Each festival brings exciting horse races to the Shire Race-track and the Bree-land Festival Grounds. By completing a race in time, players can win festival tokens which can be exchanged for festival rewards.
Race locations:
- All-Shire Run - The Shire, just north of the Shire Homesteads.
- The Bree Derby - Bree-land at the Festival Grounds.
A Bit of Drinking
- Main articles: The Inn League and The Ale Association
The Inn League and The Ale Association are looking for a few good drinkers. Are you wishing to cause mischief at the smug inns of the realm or grant the wishes of those lonely drinkers who are simply in need of a good brew. Either way raise your mug and toast the festivities!
