The Adúrhid

Members of the Avabár-kinta, or 'people without a home' as they have named themselves, are nomadic Elves who roam among the groves of the Valley of Ikorbân.

The Adúrhid, or Kintai, are the oasis elves of Haradwaith. Unlike the Eldar, they never began the Great Journey with Taknûn the Hunter in the days before the Sun and Moon. In histories such as the Silmarillion, the Kintai would be considered Avari- the Unwilling- but they call themselves Tárthai- Those Who Remained. The eldest of the Kintai eventually fade away, their bodies no longer able to sustain them. They stop moving and their physical bodies wither into dust, while their spirits become Väiri, lingering being that whisper on the wind, though their wishes remain unclear.

The Kintai may opt to fade within a Veroth, a tree-tomb of Sarlásh trees. The tree grows and closes around the fading Kinta, and the elf's body is absorbed into the tree. The Sarlásh trees which were used as Verothi indeed carry on the visage of their respective Kinta, and the spirit of the faded Kinta is then bound to that last, able to perceive the area around it from within the Veroth.
