Use of colours on Lotro-Wiki
- Here at Lotro-Wiki, the preferred technique for the use of colour is to use "NAMED Colours."
- While not necessarily encompassing "artistic expression," "Named Colours" allow one to predict what a given colour will look like when displayed in any browser.
- "Named Colours" are standards. They also allow any editor to instantly determine what colour was intended.
- You will find both numerical representations and Named Colours used in various parts of the Wiki. Most all numerical representations are artifacts from an earlier time.
Templates available
- To insert coloured text use the {{Color}} template:
{{Color|red|example}}
- Which produces this: example

- The web safe colour palette contains 216 colours. Back when most computers only had 8-bit video cards, they could only view 256 colours. Out of those 256 colours, 40 of them looked different between Macs and PCs. The reason that the web safe colour palette only has 216 colours is because of those 40 colours. Limiting the palette to 216 ensures that both Macs and PCs display all colours the same.
The names in this table can be used in all major browsers instead of the hex code or #rgb(r, g, b) notations to more easily document your colour use.
NOTE: {{Color|red|example}} and {{TextColor|Text|orange}} have the ''COLOR'' arguments reversed!
