Lore
- A village or township in the northern reaches of the Shire, further north even than hills of Scary. Since it is nowhere explicitly mapped, its location is hard to establish with certainty, but it appears to have fallen within the northernmost borders of the Eastfarthing of the Shire. In a translator's note Tolkien stated that the name of the village means "the descendants of Dwale" and that Dwale was a nick-name of an individual, meaning 'dull' or 'foolish'. — tolkiengateway
