Zajâna

Zajâna is an ancient city-state located in the region of Kighân, part of the territory of Mûr Ghala. It was one of the ancestral realms of the Shagâni people, alongside Hamât to the north and Nísaka to the northwest.
History
The origins of Zajâna are obscure, but it stood among the notable Shagâni city-states whose legacy endured into the Third Age. Its people were renowned for their resilience, being long accustomed to war and hardship.
By the late Third Age, Zajâna and its kindred lands of Kighân were subjugated by the Great Empire of Ordâkh. Under its rule, the Shagâni were compelled to offer worship to Sauron, though many among them defied this command.
After the fall of Sauron, Zajâna has risen as a city of scholars, but though the dark lord has fallen, threats still loom from within the city's walls.
Culture
The inhabitants of Zajâna shared in the broader Shagâni heritage, being a diverse people descended from multiple realms and traditions. Like their neighbors in Hamât and Nísaka, they were seasoned in warfare and adapted to the harsh conditions of their homeland.
