Shagâni is the name of both the language and the people of Shagâna, or Near Harad. There is a version of the language spoken in Kighân named Zajâni, after the main city of Mûr Ghala, Zajâna.

The language is closely related to, yet still distinct from, the Umbari language of Umbar, which is an Adûnaic-Shagâni creole language.
