Bestowal Dialogue

'There is a particular book that mentioned the Pale Blight, called "Nisigím, the Emerald Wood". It is an account of a group of Pohâni who travelled amongst the Kintai and wrote down their tales and legends.

'I don't believe the Kalmakhíla has a copy. You should head to the Court of Larinâsta here in Zajâna. There is a book-seller I know there, Merbâna. Here is some coin. I believe she has a copy of the book. Bring it here and I will find the relevant passage for you.'

Background

In order to get the book Khâbakh needs, you will need to haggle with the local book-seller in the Court of Larinâsta.

Objective 1

Speak with Merbâna in the Court of Larinâsta in Zajâna about buying the book Khâbakh requested. The Court of Larinâsta is located due east of the Kalmakhíla, whilst still in Zajâna.

Merbâna: 'Saráz záro-dan, friend. Yes, I have that book. I don't want coin for it, however. I have a powerful desire for oranges. They grow freely on the hillsides outside Zajâna, beyond the Khab Kitâx, this time of year. Yes, I believe I will accept oranges in exchange for the tome.
'How many oranges are you willing to get for me?'

Objective 2

Haggle with Merbâna in the Court of Larinâsta in Zajâna about how many oranges she needs in exchange for the book Khâbakh requested.

Merbâna: 'Five? That is far too few oranges. Do you consider me a fool? There are no fools in the Larinâsta.
'I will exchange the book for no fewer than twenty oranges.'

Objective 3

Continue haggling with Merbâna in the Court of Larinâsta in Zajâna about how many oranges she needs in exchange for Khâbakh's book.

Merbâna: 'Three? You don't seem very skilled in negotiation friend. You are supposed to get closer to the number I suggest, not farther away.
'I suppose I could accept a paltry ten oranges in exchange for the book.'

Objective 4

Finish haggling with Merbâna in the Court of Larinâsta in Zajâna about how many oranges she needs in exchange for Khâbakh's book.

Merbâna: 'All right, all right. You'd see me driven from hearth and home, and leave me destitute with no oranges, but I will accept your terms. Seven oranges in exchange for the book.
'Now go, bring me the oranges before I change my mind.'

Objective 5

  • Harvest oranges outside Zajâna (0/7)
6 Oranges for Merbâna

Go to the hillside outside the Khab Kitâx outside Zajâna where the orange trees grow and gather seven oranges for Merbâna.

Harvested oranges outside Zajâna (7/7)

Objective 6

7 Oranges for Merbâna

Return to Merbâna in the Court of Larinâsta in Zajâna with the harvested oranges.

Merbâna: 'These oranges are perfect. I would have taken five, but seven is even better.
'Here is the book you requested. Give Khâbakh my regards.'

Objective 7

 Nisigím, the Emerald Wood

Return to Khâbakh in the Kalmakhíla in Zajâna with the book he requested. The Kalmakhíla can be found near the Shorakhúna in central Zajâna.

Khâbakh: 'Ah yes. This is the book I needed. Let me see, yes, this is the relevant passage for you.
'You were asking about the Pale Blight, yes? Here it is. Travelling scholars mention a legend among the Kintai that may be relevant. They speak of Sívigush the Earth terror, a great beast of unimaginable size and ferocity. These accounts say that Sívigush carried within it a great plague, that corrupted all it touched, turning the forests pale and dead wherever it strode.
'These accounts attribute this Pale Blight to Sívigush, and claim it emanated from a place in Adagím once said to be Sívigush's abode. This site was later settled by a group of Men who excavated the area. It is known amongst the Elves as Nagakhêdi's Folly. Apparently the Men who were excavating the site were building a grand abode for their king, Nagakhêdi. Reports disagree here on the details, but each claim that the workers perished to a man within the cursed tunnels.
'This is all rumour and happenstance. But if you are indeed searching for the source of this Pale Blight, you might explore Nagakhêdi's Folly in Adagim. Then tell me what you find. I would love to publish something new about Adagím - as long as I don't have to go there myself. Dreadful place.'
