Jarmát
Jarmát, also known as Far Harad, is the southernmost region of Harad in the land of Haradwaith. It has been announced for inclusion in the game through the upcoming region the Hatokáli Fells.
Lore
Jarmát is the larger and more remote of the two Haradric realms, with Shagâna (Near Harad) lying to the north. Together with Umbar, these lands form Haradwaith (Sindarin for South-folk).
Jarmát is a vast and little-known territory. Much of its landscape is dominated by the Harad Waste, a scorching desert of shifting sands, rocky outcrops, and rare oases, though thick jungles and dark marshes also lie within its bounds. While inhospitable to outsiders, the Waste is traversed by nomadic tribes, caravans, and armies following the continuation of the Harad Road, which runs south from Ithilien through Haradwaith. Beyond the ridge of Mûr Ghala stretches the great open desert of Gûl Sakhâsha.
Beyond the Waste lie river valleys, dense jungles, and rugged highlands. Across the Hatokáli from the Mûr Ghala lies Abaníssa, the distant jungle homeland of the Ordâkhai. Jarmát is also home to the colossal Mûmakil, called "Oliphaunts" in Shire legend, gigantic elephant-like beasts that the Haradrim trained as moving war-towers. During the War of the Ring, warriors from Jarmát marched north with these beasts, accompanied by exceptionally tall fighters known in Gondor as Half-trolls.
Even at the height of Gondor’s power the region remained mysterious, owing to its great distance from the northern realms and the harshness of its climate and terrain. Reports reaching the north describe Jarmát as a land of immense scale, sparsely settled but formidable in both its people and its beasts.
