The Welkin-lofts (Lugroz in Black Speech and Orkish, literally The High-place) is an area on the western slopes of Mount Gundabad. Known as Lugroz to the Orcs, the Welkin-lofts sit high in the mountains, among the three peaks of Gundabad. The winds here are cold and fierce, and the cliffs and caves are home to all manner of beasts as well as to drakes of the Frost-horde and the ice giants of Thyrstáth. A narrow road leads down into Câr Bronach to the north, and entry to Clovengap can be gained through the gate of Bazan-medan. The Father's Path runs from Fellgát to the high ruins of Uzdarulzahar and Bagud-bukhnu. Angmarim and their Frost-bound acolytes have come this way of late, bringing with them wights and bound spirits.
Near the center of the Welkin-lofts is Ibdêkh-buzru, the Thing-fold, where six Dwarrowmoots have been held so far. The pillars that surround the wide open space wait for the seventh great meeting of the dwarves to be held and recorded.
