Thyrstáth is home to the ice-giants of Gundabad, led by Chieftain Hrungrod. The ice-giants once had other holds in and around Mount Gundabad, but they were gradually pushed out by the dwarves until only Thyrstáth remained to them. They are wary of being drawn into war.

Thyrstáth includes both an exterior and interior. The outside has become a battleground between Warlord Dushtalbúk's Frost-bound hobgoblins and the Orcs of Gorgar the Ruthless, while the inner halls ^{[46.3N, 77.1W]} remain the domain of the ice-giants and their allies.
