Noglond is a settlement located within the area of Vale of Thrain, in Ered Luin. [19.3S, 100.5W]

Noglond is Sindarin for "Haven of the Dwarves" and indeed this way-station lights one's heart having travelled from the cold norths of the Blue Mountain and not yet seeing the Low Lands beyond. This location serves as a provisioner's outpost and a resting place for weary travellers at the main east-west road. However, problems with food and water supply begun recently because of more aggressive creatures and that goblins have set camp nearby.

Lore

"The waystation of Noglond serves as a provisioners' outpost and resting place for merchants and weary travellers." — Deed text
Both Noglond and Gondamon were once Elven holdings in the days of Edhelion, but fell into ruin in the long years after the fall of the refuge. The dwarf-exiles of the Lonely Mountain rebuilt them, under the leadership of Thráin and Thorin, and the Elves of Duillond welcomed them to the mountains. In these evil days, the guards of Noglond and Gondamon must be ever-vigilant against the return of the treacherous Dourhands and goblins out of the north. — lorebook
