The King of Rohan is the ruler of the Kingdom of Rohan in Middle-earth, founded by Eorl the Young, Lord of the Éothéod, after Steward Cirion of Gondor bestowed the province of Calenardhon to Eorl's people following victory at the Battle of the Field of Celebrant against the Easterlings. Masters of the horse and bridle, The Rohirrim, otherwise known as the Eorlingas, would prove to be a vital ally to Gondor and the Free Peoples in the wars against Mordor and it's dark forces.
The Kings of Rohan are descended from Eorl the Young through three different familial lines, and by the time of the War of the Ring at the end of the Third Age, had ruled Rohan for over five hundred years.
