Description
Brego the Builder was the 2nd King of Rohan, reigning for a total of twenty-five years.
Born in the newly-founded Kingdom of Rohan in the second year of his father Eorl's reign, Prince Brego would come to succeed his father as King following the latter's death in battle against the Easterlings in the Wold. Brego would oversee the expulsion of the Easterlings and Dunlending adversaries, and also oversaw the continued migration of the Éothéod as they made their way from their homelands far in the north.
Brego's crowning achievement as King however, was the construction of the Golden Hall of Meduseld, and his moving of the Riddermark's seat of power from Aldburg to the newly founded capital city of Edoras. Brego would live to see Meduseld completed in T.A. 2569, though even this landmark accomplishment would become overshadowed by family tragedy.
At the inaugural celebration feast held in the Golden Hall, Brego's son and heir, Crown Prince Baldor, vowed that he would pass the Dark Door and tread the Paths of the Dead beyond. In his pride, Baldor entered that haunted realm and never returned, and old King Brego died of grief the following year, aged fifty-eight.
Brego was succeeded as King of Rohan by his middle son Aldor, who would herald a golden age of peace for the Eorlingas during his reign. Brego's youngest son, Eofor, would also prosper during this time, and eventually become the ancestor of Éomer and Éowyn.
