Brytta Léofa (Rohirric for Beloved) was the 11th King of Rohan, ruling for forty-four years.
Born in T.A. 2752 in Rohan during the reign of his grand-uncle Helm Hammerhand, young Brytta was the son of Fréaláf Hildeson, who was the son of King Helm's sister Hild. During his formative years, Brytta and his kin were forced to take refuge in the mountain sanctuary of Dunharrow during the War with the Dunlendings, a conflict that saw King Helm slain while defending the Hornburg. With no living sons of Helm's to carry on the First Line of the House of Eorl, it fell to Brytta's father to begin the Second Line of Kings and retake the Riddermark from the invaders, which Fréaláf did. Prince Brytta helped to restore order to the Kingdom in the following years, and would succeed to the Kingship upon his father's death in T.A. 2798.
King Brytta was charged with leading the Eorlingas through the continued restoration of the kingdom following the Dunlending invasion, and was known for his generosity, thus earning his sobriquet of "Léofa", or "Beloved". Brytta was forced, however, to contend with a new threat, as orcs from the Misty Mountains fleeing from defeat during the Sixth War of Dwarves and Orcs began to encroach upon the Riddermark and terrorize its people. Brytta began a conflict with the orcs that continued for two more generations after his passing.
King Brytta passed away in T.A. 2842 at the age of ninety. He was succeeded by his son Walda, who would only reign for nine years before being slain himself by orcs in the mountain passes near Dunharrow.
