Description
Déor was the 7th King of Rohan, reigning for a total of nineteen years.
Born in the Kingdom of Rohan in T.A. 2644 remarkably during the reign of his great-great-grandfather Aldor the Old, Déor was the only son of Goldwine, who became the sixth King of Rohan in T.A. 2680. After King Goldwine passed following his nineteen year rule, the Kingship passed then to Prince Déor in T.A. 2699.
King Déor's reign saw renewed hostilities between the Dunlending hill tribes in the west, who plundered and raided the herds of the Rohirrim beyond the River Isen. In T.A. 2710 Déor led an expedition to the north to rout out these interlopers, but found the Dunlendings had fortified the ancient fortress of Isengard, and would not be dislodged. King Déor fortified the Westfold against the threat of invasion, though failed to receive any reinforcements from Steward Egalmoth of Gondor.
King Déor passed away in T.A. 2718 at the age of seventy-four. He was succeeded by his son Gram as King of Rohan, who would carry on the conflict against the Dunlendings.
