Sink or Swim
"Bingo has decided to master one final skill for his journey: he will learn to swim!"
Background
In preparation for his journey, you have come down to the banks of the Brandywine to help Bingo learn to swim.
Objective 1
Bingo is ready to learn to swim, and needs your advice.
- Bingo Boffin: 'Well, here we are, <name>. Time for this hobbit to learn a new skill!'
- Provide support for Bingo as he prepares to swim
- Bingo Boffin says, "All right..."
- Everard says, "Is he really going to try and swim?"
- Peony says, "Seems like it, the poor fool!"
- Bingo Boffin says, "Hmm..."
- Bingo Boffin says, "Has the Brandywine always looked this wide?"
- Bingo Boffin says, "Hmm..."
- Bingo Boffin says, "It looks cold, too. Does it look cold to you?"
- Mosco says, "Why is this taking so long?"
- Bingo Boffin says, "<name>, might I have a word?"
Objective 2
- Talk to Bingo on the banks of the Brandywine
Bingo is ready to learn to swim, and needs your advice.
- Bingo Boffin: 'It occurs to me that I may have made a slight error in judgement, <name>, and I have perhaps not dressed entirely appropriately for the ... cold ... frigid ... waters ...'
- Bingo shivers.
- 'What do you think? Do you think perhaps I just need to warm myself up, possibly get the blood flowing? That is a capital idea, my intelligent <race> friend.'
- Stay out of Bingo's way while he warms himself up
- Rosa says, "What is he doing?"
- Peony says, "Oh my!"
- Everard says, '"Aaaah!"
- Mosco says, "He has gone mad!"
- Lily says, "Stop! I can't bear to look!
- Bingo Boffin says, "That was just the thing!"
- Bingo Boffin says, "I was wrong, I'm not ready."
- Bingo Boffin says, "<name>, I need you!"
Objective 3
- Talk to Bingo on the banks of the Brandywine
Bingo is ready to learn to swim, and needs your advice.
- Bingo Boffin: 'I'm a bit warmer, but the water still looks cold and now I just feel tired!
- 'You think maybe this just a bad spot? Maybe I should try another place on the bank? Good idea!'
- Cheer on Bingo while he finds the perfect spot
- Bingo Boffin says, "Patience, everyone. I am almost all set!"
- Bingo Boffin says, "Maybe here will be better."
- Bingo Boffin says, "I don't know..."
- Bingo Boffin says, "Hmm..."
- Lily says, "What if someone swam across first, as a demonstration?"
- Bingo Boffin says, "Yes, that might do it! I will watch you swim, my adventuring friend!"
Objective 4
- Swim to the other side of the river
Perhaps leading by example will help. If you swim across the river yourself, perhaps Bingo will find it within himself to do the same.
- Your muscles ache, but you have put on a fine demonstration
Objective 5
- Return to Bingo and see if your demonstration helped
You should return to Bingo and see if your demonstration helped him gain some confidence.
- Bingo Boffin: 'That was incredible, my friend! If you can do it, I certainly think I can do it as well!'
- Bingo Boffin says, "Here I go!"
- Lily says, "Look at him go!"
- Everard says, "You're doing it, Bingo!"
- Bingo Boffin says, "I'm swimming! I'm swimming!"
Objective 6
- Talk to Bingo, but don't let him drip on you
Bingo splashed around some in the water. It is possible there might have been a little swimming in there, but it is hard to say for certain.
- Bingo Boffin: 'I did it, <name>! Did you see me? Your feat was pretty good, but I'm afraid my own may have shown you up some.
- 'Now that was a true display of swimming prowess, wouldn't you say?'
- Bingo Boffin: 'I am drenched, but I am happy, my friend. Let us return to the Golden Perch and dry off!'
