Khôn-khaigu is an area of western Rhûn, a field where the Easterlings serving under Sauron won a great victory during the War of the Last Alliance, defeating an army of dwarves led by Durin IV, and Thíuda serving under Huneric Hundred-slayer. The giant Rhunhoth army was named the "Ghâzab Bôron" (Rhûnic for the Storm of Wrath). Isildur's eldest son, Elendur, disguised with the pseudonym "Meldaran" at the time, was among the first to receive word of the loss, and hurried to Díngarth to relay the news.
