Land

Middle-earth: Starter Area, Lands, Regions, Areas, Settlements, Landmarks, Interiors, Dungeons, Instances, Maps

Lands of Middle-earth are represented on the map as the first layer when viewing the map of Middle-earth, (press m key or click on the map button on radar)

Currently the six accessible lands in Lord of the Rings Online are the western plains of Eriador, the wilderness of Rhovanion, sprawling reaches of Rohan, the kingdom of Gondor, the wasteland of Mordor, and the deserts of Haradwaith.

Eriador

Eriador is found in the western part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of many regions from Ered Luin in the west to the Misty Mountains in the east, and from Forochel in the north to Dunland in the south. All races will start in Eriador after their introduction finishes; Hobbits in The Shire, Men and Beornings in Bree-land, Dwarves and Elves in Ered Luin. All races may elect to start in Swanfleet in the southern part of Eriador.

Rhovanion

Rhovanion is found in the north-east part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of many regions from Ered Mithrin and the Iron Hills in the far north to Lothlórien and Moria in the south. It includes the regions on either side of the Anduin River, the forests of Mirkwood and the settled areas in the far north-east. One special area is Azanulbizar, T.A. 2799 which is a portion of the Dimrill Dale as it was during the Sixth War of Dwarves and Orcs, approximately 220 years before the War of the Ring.

Rohan

Rohan is land in central part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of several regions from West Rohan in the west, to East Rohan in the east, and northward along the Great River.

Gondor

Gondor is found in the south part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of many regions from Outer Gondor in the west to Eastern Gondor in the east, and from Far Anórien in the north to Central Gondor in the south. It is unique in that many of the regions have both 'before the War' and 'after the War' versions. These 'after the War' versions are often referred to as "King's Gondor".

Mordor

Mordor is found in the south-east part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of several regions, the main being the Plateau of Gorgoroth in the central western region of the map. Mordor Besieged is a part of the Plateau of Gorgoroth as it was during the Siege of Barad-dûr at the end of the Second Age.

Haradwaith

Haradwaith is found in the south-east part of the map of Middle-earth.

It is comprised of the Shield Isles, the Cape of Umbar, and the Valley of Ikorbân
