Bestowal dialogue

'I have done some thinking, <name>, and I think I know where those Dourhand villains brought your friend Bingo. They have launched a number of attacks on my people from a stronghold in the High Crag. That place is called Gabilazan, and it seems to be the Dourhand base of operations in this stretch of the Misty Mountains.

'Go to Gabilazan and defeat the Dourhands there in order to learn where they are keeping Bingo Boffin!'

You wonder if this is the extent of Glóin's daring plan, and tell him so. He laughs heartily.

'What more could a plan offer than this, <name>? The opportunity to fight villainous Dourhands is justification enough for any such plan, if you want the opinion of this dwarf!'

Background

Glóin has an idea where the Dourhands may have taken Bingo, and thinks you should try to assault the fortress of Gabilazan and rescue the hobbit.

Objective 1

Dourhands can be found in the fortress of Gabilazan, in the High Crag of the Misty Mountains.

Glóin believes you can learn where the Dourhands are holding Bingo Boffin if you attack them at the fortress of Gabilazan.

Glóin: 'The Dourhands have launched a number of attacks on my people from a stronghold in the High Crag. That place is called Gabilazan, and it seems to be the Dourhand base of operations in this stretch of the Misty Mountains.
'Go to Gabilazan and defeat the Dourhands there in order to learn where they are keeping Bingo Boffin!'
Defeated Dourhands at Gabilazan (12/12)

Objective 2

  • Find the courtyard in the southern reaches of Gabilazan

You heard some shouting from the southern reaches of Gabilazan. Is that where Bingo is being held captive?

PRISONER-CAGE "The Dourhands of Gabilazan keep prisoners in cages like this one. The prisoners within are exposed to the cold, harsh weather of the mountains."
Was Bingo being held in this cage? And where has he gone now?
Dourhand Captor says, "You must be the one who freed our captive! Now you will die!"
Dourhand Captor says, "The others will recapture our prisoner, despite your efforts!"
Dourhand Captor says, "You let our halfling prisoner escape, but he will soon be recaptured!"

Objective 3

  • Search the slopes just north of Gabilazan for any sign of Bingo's escape

Bingo was being held in a cage in Gabilazan, but somehow he has managed to escape!

Spalvi Dourhand stands by a deep, dark hole in the side of the mountain

Objective 4

Spalvi Dourhand stands by a deep, dark hole in the mountain, just north of Gabilazan. What story does HE have to tell?

Spalvi Dourhand: 'Wait! Hear me out, <name>! I am not your enemy!
'It is true that I deceived you and your hobbit friend, but I did not truly wish for either of you to come to harm. The more I dwelled upon it, the more I realized I could not stand with my brothers in this. When their guard relaxed, I freed Bingo from his cage and we fled from Gabilazan. But in our haste, that poor hobbit did not pay close attention to his footing, and the ground gave way!
'Bingo fell down this hole, and I fear he fell beyond the reach of my voice, for he has not responded to my calls. I think I heard splashing from far below, but I cannot be certain. If he did survive, he will need supplies. If you return to Gabilazan and collect bundles of food and the bottles of water the dwarves carry, we can drop them down the hole after Bingo! If he did survive, he will need any of the water and food we can provide to him.
'Please trust me, <name>! I will do all I can to make this right!'

Objective 5

  • Collect bundles of food from Gabilazan (0/4)
  • Collect water-bottles from Dourhands in Gabilazan (0/6)

Spalvi Dourhand: 'It is true that I deceived you and your hobbit friend, but I did not truly wish for either of you to come to harm. The more I dwelled upon it, the more I realized I could not stand with my brothers in this. When their guard relaxed, I freed Bingo from his cage and we fled from Gabilazan. DEEP DARK HOLE "The darkness beyond the hole is complete. You cannot tell how deep it goes, but it is a very long way and would not be safe for you to fall that way."
Dropping supplies ... The goods fall a long way

I will do some thinking about our next step, but know that I will not abandon the search until we find him safe and sound. I will make this right!'
