This skill is replaced by Check-step (requires set bonus Check-step).
Effects
Using this skill applies Step Back, as well as Swordplay: Step Back to the Mariner. This effect is consumed by the next Swordplay skill.
Skill Interactions
The following Swordplay skills empower Step Back:
- Blade Shield makes this skill grant -15% Incoming Damage.
The following skills are empowered when they are the next Swordplay skill used after Step Back:
- Disengage heals the Mariner. If traited in yellow-line, it additionally heals the fellowship.
- Riposte applies Enraged to the enemy target.
Trait Interactions
- The trait A Step Back in the Duellist trait tree makes this skill shift the Mariner up to 3 additional steps aft-ward.
- The trait Shrug Aside Blows in the Shanty-caller trait tree makes Step Back decrease incoming damage by up to 10%.
- The trait Coordinated Movement in the Rover trait tree makes Disengage heal the fellowship when used after this skill.
- The set bonus Check-step in the Duellist trait tree replaces this skill with Check-step.
Tracery Interactions
- Defensive Swordplay Buff Durations increases the duration of Step Back by up to 3.3 seconds.
Armour Set Interactions
Equipping 2 pieces of the Umbari Armour of the Stars armour set acquired from the Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo Raid increases the duration of Step Back by 2 seconds.
Tactical Information
Step Back is most commonly used in conjunction with Blade Shield as a defensive combo. This is also used by Yellow-line Mariners to enrage ranged targets into melee range.
