And so the Battle of Azanulbizar was ended. Although Azog and some ten thousand of his kin lay dead, the battle had exacted a heavy toll on the Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ. Yet, in the mind of King Thráin, the Sixth War of the Dwarves and Orcs was not yet finished.
Background
The Battle of Azanulbizar has ended, but at unimaginable cost.
Objective 1
King Thráin can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
After Azog's defeat and the routing of the Orcs at Azanulbizar, King Thráin has returned to the gates of Khazad-dûm. You should talk to King Thráin.
- King Thráin: 'It is time, Hermáth.'
Objective 2
King Thráin can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
- King Thráin says, "I thank you for helping me up those stairs, Hermáth."
- King Thráin says, "But not even this accursed leg-wound will keep me from my duty..."
- Dáin and Thorin stand beside a newly-set stake at the gates of Khazad-dûm
Objective 3
King Thráin can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
With the head of Azog prepared, King Thráin intends to send a warning to the Orcs of Moria. You should talk to King Thráin.
- King Thráin: Azog sealed his fate the moment he slew my father, Thrór. This shall be a fitting end for him, I think.'
Objective 4
- Witness as King Thráin places Azog's head upon a stake at Khazad-dûm
King Thráin can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
- King Thráin says, "I would see to this myself, Ironfoot."
- King Thráin says, "Father Thrór... you are avenged."
- Thorin says, "King Thráin, someone approaches..."
- King Thráin says, "Nár! Why have you come, my friend?"
- It appears Nár has quietly followed you to the gates of Khazad-dûm
Objective 5
Nár can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
After King Thráin set Azog's head upon a stake, Nár has arrived at the gates of Khazad-dûm. You should talk to Nár.
- Nár: Nár says nothing. His face is stern, but it does little to mask the tears dried upon his cheeks.
Objective 6
- Witness as Nár inspects the head of Azog
Nár can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
- Nár says, "The debt is paid."
- Without another word, Nár leaves
Objective 7
King Thráin can be found at the gates of Khazad-dûm.
After witnessing Nár return the coin-purse to Azog, King Thráin has beckoned you over. You should talk to King Thráin.
- King Thráin: 'Nár is right.
- 'All among my Haban’akkâ have earned a night's rest, but far too many of our kin and cousins shall not wake again. Let Khazad-dûm bear witness to their deeds, both great and small.
- 'And so we shall not return to Amdân tonight. Durin himself shall watch over us.'
Objective 8
You should rest with King Thráin and the surviving Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ at Durin's Stone.
- As the cold winter's night wore on, the Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ huddled in the dale.
- But there would be no songs, nor any great speeches or feasts.
- Those who had survived dreamt dark dreams as they slept among the dead.
- Although they did not yet know it, many of the wounded would not wake again.
- As dawn breaks, you discover a great gathering of survivors at Durin's Stone

- Join the gathering of survivors at Durin's Stone
Surviving Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ have gathered at Durin's Stone.
After a night of fitful rest, you have awoken to find the Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ gathered at Durin's Stone. You should join the gathering of survivors there.
- Among the survivors, you discover the Kings of the Seven Houses gathered in council
Objective 10
- Listen to the council fo the Kings of the Seven Houses
The Kings of the Seven Houses have gathered at Durin's Stone.
On the morn after the Battle of Azanulbizar, the Kings of the Seven Houses have again gathered to council. You should listen to the council of the Kings of the Seven Houses.
- As murmurs among the survivors fall silent, King Thráin begins to speak
- King Thráin says, "Azanulbizar was hard won, but it is ours at last."
- King Thráin says, "And now, no enemy stands between our people and Khazad-dûm!"
- King Ugún says, "The war is over, heir of Durin."
- King Ugún says, "You may lack one eye, but you still have a second with which to see as much!"
- King Vékun says, "We fought to avenge Thrór, yes?"
- King Vékun says, "He is avenged, and ravens pick clean the head of Azog."
- King Vékun says, "Indeed, the cup of victory is ours."
- King Vékun says, "But it is too heavy for our hands to grip, and its draught is bitter!"
- King Shâlim Nightcloak says, "Khazad-dûm was the house of your Fathers, not ours."
- King Shâlim Nightcloak says, "What should we care to face what lies within?"
- King Shâlim Nightcloak says, "Whatever riches it once held were lost long ago!"
- King Jegín says, "I am the last of my line, and our dead are beyond counting."
- King Jegín says, "How would you pay their weregilds, Longbeard?"
- King Jegín says, "Dragons stole your wealth long ago."
- King Jegín says, "Would you have us pluck it from their hoards?"
- King Jegín says, "Let us be done with this! It is time we returned to our own lands."
- King Thráin says, "Well, then?"
- King Thráin says, "What of you, my kin? Do you also mean to abandon me?"
- Dáin says, "We are faithful to you, King Thráin."
- Dáin says, "But know this: Khazad-dûm, though near, lies beyond our grasp."
- King Thráin says, "And why is that, Ironfoot?"
- After a moment, the eyes of all of the dwarves turn to Dáin
Objective 11
Dáin can be found at Durin's Stone.
After the other lords and Kings of the Seven Houses have expressed apprehension about continuing the war, King Thráin and the other dwarves have looked to Dáin. You should speak with him now.
- Dáin: 'Oh, Hermáth... I wish I did not have to speak of it.
- 'But I will say what I must.'
Objective 12
Dáin can be found at Durin's Stone.
Dáin has been forced to rebuke King Thráin with a tale of the aftermath of Azog's slaying. You should listen to Dáin.
- Dáin says, "For I have seen what lies within its shadows..."
- Dáin says, "It is ended!"
- Dáin says, "Thrór is avenged, and Azog is slain!"
- Dáin says, "Haunt this place no longer, lest you share his fate!"
Objective 13
Dáin can be found in the First Hall of Khazad-dûm.
Dáin is recounting his tale of entering the First Hall of Khazad-dûm. You should talk to Dáin.
- Dáin: 'I crossed the threshold.. and the First Hall laid before me...'
Objective 14
Dáin is recounting the tale of what he saw in the First Hall of Khazad-dûm.
- Dáin says, "Of Bolg and the other surviving Orcs, I found no sign."
- Dáin says, "So I crept down the stairs of the First Hall..."
- Dáin says, "But then a sound echoed out of the darkness..."
- Dáin says, "Something horrid, beyond Orc or troll... as if flame itself was given voice."
- Dáin says, "And a distant glimmer grew out of the gloom as it came forth!"
- Dáin says, "Durin's Bane!"
- Dáin says, "And it is beyond your skill, or the skill of any here, to vanquish such a foe."
- Dáin says, "It would be better to face Smaug himself than such a terror!"
- Dáin says, "A day shall come when our people walk Khazad-dûm once more, but it is not this day."
- Dáin says, "It will take a power great indeed, and a world changed, before we tread again within its halls."
- Dáin says, "We will not enter Khazad-dûm, and neither will you, King Thráin."
- As Dain finishes his tale, King Thráin sighs and murmurs rise among the survivors

- Urge the Dwarves of the Haban'akkâ to remain calm
The Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ can be found at Durin's Stone.
After Dáin revealed that he encountered Durin's Bane, the Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ have grown uneasy. You should calm them down.
- As the dwarves again fall silent, King Thráin turns to Thorin
Objective 16
- Listen to King Thráin and Thorin
King Thráin and Thorin can be found at Durin's Stone.
King Thráin has asked Thorin what he believes should be done at Azanulbizar. You should listen to King Thráin and Thorin.
- King Thráin says, "What say you, Oakenshield?"
- King Thráin says, "Be not silent. I would hear your word in this as well."
- Thorin says, "All have heard the songs of Khazad-dûm's fall."
- Thorin says, "Even with the full strength of all the Houses, taking it would cost more than we would care to spend."
- Thorin says, "Alone? It would be easier to pluck the stars from Kheled-zâram."
- Thorin says, "No, Dáin speaks aright."
- Thorin says, "If we mean to take back our home, then let that home be the Lonely Mountain."
- As the other Kings of the Seven Houses nod in agreement, King Thráin falls silent
Objective 17
King Thráin can be found at Durin's Stone.
After Thorin gave his counsel, King Thráin and the other Kings of the Seven Houses have agreed to the war's ending. You should talk to King Thráin.
- King Thráin: At first, King Thráin says nothing. After a moment, he straightens his beard and turns to the other survivors.
- King Thráin says, "Enough blood has been shed at Azanulbizar..."
- King Thráin says, "Thrór has taken his place at the forge of the First Crafter."
- King Thráin says, "Let us honour our dead and begone from this place!"
Objective 18
King Thráin has set the Dwarves of the Haban’akkâ on a grim task. You should aid the Haban’akkâ.
- And so it was decided that the dwarves would depart Azanulbizar.
- But before they did so, they took the arms and mail from their dead.
- Too many were slain to entomb, and against their custom, they turned instead to fire.
- The dwarves felled every tree in the dale until Azanulbizar lay barren.
- There they built great pyres upon which to burn their dead.
- And so honoured were the Marasrân, the Burned Dwarves of Azanulbizar.
Objective 19
Dáin can be found at Durin's Stone.
After the felling of trees and the raising of great pyres at Azanulbizar, the time has come to burn the fallen Kings and their guards at Durin's Stone.
- Dáin: 'At last our work is done, but it rings hollow, my friend.
- 'Many were lost in the fighting, but now even the dale itself lies barren and lifeless. I weep for my father, Náin. I wish he knew how soon victory would come after he fell. Along with the rest of our kin, he too will be burned, but he will remain in my mind as the proud dwarf he was!
- 'Our friends and cousins mourn their losses, and I would not leave them to grieve alone. I have paid my respects to each of them. I am certain they would welcome any words of comfort from you as well, Hermáth.
- 'Once that is done, you ought to talk to Thorin. I believe we need only await King Thráin before this grim task is finished.'

Before the final pyres are lit at Durin's Stone, Dáin has suggested that you pay your respects to the Kings of the Seven Houses. Afterward, Dáin has asked you to talk to Thorin.
- King Shâlim Nightcloak says, "I thank you. We have lost many, but it was not in vain."
- King Ugún says, "I mourn the loss of my father, Usk. A curse upon the Orcs!"
- King Onúr says, "My father, Agni, would not have had it any other way!"
- King Drógar Bloodwhisker says, "Too many of our flames have been extinguished, but I thank you."
- King Jegín says, "It will take many years to recover what was lost. But you have my thanks, Longbeard."
- King Vékun says, "Father Vélat fell in the fighting, but he is a hero among the Zhélruka!"
Objective 21
Thorin can be found at Durin's Stone.
You have paid your respects to the other dwarf-kings. You should talk to Thorin at the central pyre at Durin's Stone.
- Thorin Oakenshield: 'Ah, Hermáth, I think we are ready to light the final pyres.
- 'Although I am not certain as to his reasons, I believe my father has gone down to Kheled-zâram. We all mourn in our own ways, I suppose, so perhaps he seeks the wisdom of the First Crafter. Alas, this duty is his alone!
- 'Would you go find him and tell him that we are prepared?'
Objective 22
- Find King Thráin at Kheled-zâram
King Thráin might be found by the banks of Kheled-zâram.
After preparing the final pyres at Azanulbizar, Thorin has asked you to find King Thráin.

Objective 23
King Thráin can be found by the banks of Kheled-zâram near Durin's Stone.
You have found King Thráin at the banks of Kheled-zâram. Speak with him.
- King Thráin: 'Yes?'
- King Thráin appears lost in thought, his gaze fixed upon the dark waters of Kheled-zâram. you tell him the final pyres are prepared, and that Thorin has sent for him.
- 'So be it.'
- King Thráin says, "Even without the others, I had hoped that Khazad-dûm might still be won."
- King Thráin says, "But even I cannot ignore such dire portents..."
- King Thráin says, "The stars have gone, Hermáth."
- King Thráin says, "Durin's Crown has fallen into darkness..."
- King Thráin says, "Khazad-dûm is lost."
- King Thráin says, "I have been long enough in my thoughts, friend. Let us return..."
- King Thráin says, "Bah! It did not seem so far when I walked down here!"
- King Thráin says, "Go on, Hermáth. Tell my son I will be along soon enough!"
Objective 24
Thorin can be found at Durin's Stone.
After finding King Thráin lost in thought beside Kheled-zâram, he told you to return to Thorin and let his son know that he would soon return. You should talk to Thorin.
- Thorin Oakenshield: 'Ah, you return. But where is my father, Hermáth?'
- You explain that King Thráin sent you to inform Thorin that he would arrive shortly, despite his leg-wound.
- 'He is stubborn as ever, I see. We will wait, then.'
- You and Thorin wait for a time, until finally King Thráin begins to shuffle up the ramp to the central pyre.
- 'There he is.'
Objective 25
King Thráin can be found at Durin's Stone.
King Thráin has returned to Durin's Stone. You should wait for King Thráin to give the order to light the final pyres.
- King Thráin says, "I am sorry for my delay, my son."
- King Thráin says, "I had need to look to Kheled-zâram, and the stars gave their answer."
- As King Thráin prepares to order the lighting of the pyres, he calls to you
Objective 26
King Thráin can be found at Durin's Stone.
You should talk to King Thráin.
- King Thráin: 'It is time we honoured our fallen as best we can.
- 'We have stripped them of their mail, taken their weapons, and now we give their bodies to the flame. Bolg and the Orcs will never make trophies of them.
- 'To burn the dead is not the way of our peoples but it must be done, and we must hold those we lost dear to our hearts and memory.
- 'Let us honour them together.'
Objective 27
The pyres can be found at Durin's Stone.
King Thráin has asked you to join him in lighting the final pyres at Durin's Stone.
- King Thráin shouts, "Dwarves! Kin! Cousins! Here, before the eyes of Durin, we honour our dead!"
- King Thráin shouts, "Let us send the lords and Kings of the Seven Houses to the forge of the First Crafter!"
- King Thráin shouts, "May their valour and their sacrifices never be forgotten!"
