Description

Tárandil is the foster son of Isildur sent to Díngarth to inspect the garrison during the Siege of Barad-dûr by the Great Alliance in the Mordor Besieged area. ^{[97.4S, 131.3W]}

Tárandil is not his original name, but one taken soon after Isildur took him in. Unlike most of his brothers, Tárandil was born in Númenor, eldest of all Isildur's sons except for Elendur, who was eighteen years Tárandil's senior. Unlike his brothers, Tárandil didn't take another name during the War of the Last Alliance, not being blood-kin to the kings and thus less of a target.

Lore

He is later revealed to be Adûnzagar, born in Númenor in 3317 of the Second Age, and son to Ûrizagar, the Sword of the Sun. Ûrizagar was a captain-general of the fleet, and he worshipped at Sauron's altar. He wanted his son to follow this path.

His mother was Abrazâni, childhood friend of Isildur and Anárion, and she wanted a different path for her son. After the escape from Númenor when his parents died, he was taken as a ward by Isildur with a new name.
