Ciryon was born in Gondor in Second Age 3379, third son of Isildur, grandson of Elendil.
Little is known about Ciryon's early years. He appears in the tales about the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, but he was sent to guard Minas Ithil rather than having a part in the Siege of Barad-dûr.
In Third Age 2, at the Battle of the Gladden Fields, Ciryon was slain by orcs and his brother Aratan was mortally wounded trying to rescue him. It was at that point, with his best counsellors and two sons dead, that Isildur eventually put on the One Ring and vanished from Middle-earth.
Thus Ciryon died young for the time, 62 years old. He had no known children.
