Mincham is a Ranger of Aragorn's kin and has long years since watched over the fields of Fornost in the North Downs. Long ago, he was married and had a daughter, but while being on duty at his watch the two were waylaid by Orcs. Ever since having buried them he has lived with the guilt of those happenings. Yet he remained faithful to his kin and has been watching over those fields for long years.
Mincham is also known for his long studies of the Enemy and for being proficient in the Black Speech of Mordor.
Later in the Epic storyline, Mincham is summoned to join the Grey Company on their travel south from Rivendell.
Mincham (The North Downs)
Mincham is first found at Mincham's Camp in the North Downs. There he is watching over the Fields of Fornost and has noticed the sudden increase of Orcs and other fell creatures out of Angmar of recent.
After completing The Madman's Tale and Roused Guardians of Amon Amrûn:
- "Young Amarion must learn to put his duty ahead of his compassion."
- "Angmar will not stop until they control the North Downs, <name>, nor can we allow our vigilance to fail."
- "The Orcs at Fornost and at Dol Dínen have some foul plan, I am certain of it."
Later Mincham is found in the Lich Bluffs of Enedwaith, in a grove of trees.
