Walkthrough & Notes

If you go to Céolstan's grave on the rise just west of Steaping Cave [31.4S, 65.1W] and look to the west, you can see the Lonely Height (beyond the High Knolls Stable-mster.) There are many Snow-stalkers, Snowy Grims and Flocking Spies along the path. There are two approaches to the Lonely Height, one more or less directly behind the stable-master and the other south of him which brings you up through the "Hungry Paths". Ecglaf stands watch over his goats just past the fence [33.0S, 67.8W], and looks down on Byre Tor to the east and the Balewood to the west.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'Must you go look for them? I was hoping you could stay here... though you did me such kindness to make these women my friends at last! 'Nay, I see that you must search for survivors, and help them as you have helped us. We will stay here and survive until it is safe to come out again... 'I hope we meet again, <name>! I have lost so much since Byre Tor was taken, but gained so much too.' Background You now know that more refugees from Byre Tor have scattered westward towards Balewood, and should climb to high ground to look for them. Objective 1 Climb the high peak to the west to look for survivors A high peak with a view of the Balewood can be found west of the refugees' cave. You should climb the peak and search for the refugees. You spot a small home, and smell a cooking fire Objective 2 Talk to the man on the peak A man stands near his home, looking southward. You should speak with the man atop the western-most peak. Ecglaf: 'I saw you below, stranger, and wondered if you would venture this way.'
