Bestowal Dialogue
Gondor cannot be without defenders! Where are its knights? Where are its fighters? The King of Gondor would not permit an incursion so near to the White City to remain unmet... unless he had no choice.
'We must press forward to the north-west in search of any who might stand against Nakási.'
Background
You have sailed in haste to Gondor, but the Song arrived before you, and The Harlond is in flames.
You can return to The Harlond in Flames by using the banner east of the Beacon-gate, in Umbar Baharbêl.
Objective 1
- Make your way north-west in search of Gondorian defenders
You should make your way north-west past the reeds in search of Gondorian defenders.
- Tatháta: 'Press forward and search for Gondor's defenders! Follow the sound of fighting to the north-west!
- 'Gondor would not willingly abandon this port-city to the ravages of the Song.'
- Soldier of Gondor: 'Over here!'
- A soldier of Gondor beckons you to him
Objective 2
A soldier of Gondor greets you by the southern side of the burning Harlond, desperate hope written on his face.
- Tatháta: 'Press forward and search for Gondor's defenders! Follow the sound of fighting to the north-west!
- 'Gondor would not willingly abandon this port-city to the ravages of the Song.'
- Soldier of Gondor: 'Is that you, <name>? We are hard-pressed here, and have lost many men in an attempt to learn what villain bedevils us! I thought the Corsairs tasted bitter defeat during the war, and their fleet destroyed!'
- You tell the soldier that the Song of Waves and Wind had been kept secret from most of Umbar, but a number of their captains schemed to use it against Gondor.
- 'We sallied forth from Minas Tirith when we first received word of enemy ships sailing toward the Harlond. King Elessar led the charge, but we could not get near enough for fear of the terrible blue flames fired from their weapons! Is it true they have wrought new quantities of the Umbari Fire?
- 'The King was pushed away from the river... find his men to the north-west, past the graveyard!'
Objective 3
- Find more defenders north-west of the Harlond, past the graveyard
Defenders of Gondor fought bravely against the assault of the Song, but were pushed back to a slope north-west of the Harlond, beyond the graveyard.
- Soldier of Gondor: 'Look for Borndir at the base of the slope to the north! He guards the path to the King's encampment!'
- Borndir: '<name>!'
- Borndir calls out in greeting as you approach the upward slope
Objective 4
- Talk to Borndir on the slope north-west of the graveyard outside the Harlond
Borndir stands on the slope north-west of the burning Harlond, past the graveyard.
- Borndir: 'Do my eyes deceive me? No! You have returned to stand with us against the Corsairs of Umbar, <name>? I only hope you have not arrived too late!
- 'When we travelled with King Elessar to Outer Gondor that he might hear the concerns of his people and help them rebuild from the war, I did not think we would so soon be thrust once again into such horrors as have come to the Harlond this day!
- 'It was my duty, and Lornion's, to safeguard the King. But how can we protect him against a fleet that wields such terrible weapons, and is crewed by every enemy that ever vowed to destroy Gondor: Corsairs, Haradrim, and Orcs, all united in hatred against us?
- 'King Elessar has established a camp on the overlook atop this sloping path, <name>. Go to him and learn what can be done against these invaders, if there be anything!'
Objective 5
- Find King Elessar at the overlook atop the sloping path north-west of the graveyard outside the burning Harlond
Borndir told you that King Elessar has gathered a number of soldiers on the overlook at the top of the sloping path north-west of the burning Harlond, and prepares to make a counter-attack against the invaders.
- Borndir: 'You will find King Elessar at the top of this path! Go to him with haste!'
- King Elessar: King Elessar stands here.
- King Elessar stands atop the overlook, preparing for the counter-attack
Objective 6
King Elessar prepares for the counter-attack from the overlook north-west of the burning Harlond.
- King Elessar: King Elessar turns to face you, his expression brightening as he recognizes your return from distant lands.
- 'You return to Gondor in its time of need, my friend; I deem that is no coincidence. Tell me everything you know of this fleet and the villains who Captain it!'
