Leaving and re-entering the instance appears to save no progress on sealing the burrows. The cave-claws also respawn. All stages of progress are retained on defeat, however. There are approximately 25-30 hostile cave-claws scattered through the instance, on the upper and lower levels, with a cave-claw at each burrow, which will attack and interrupt the player as they try to seal it. Additionally, there are 7 cave-claws, which are non-attackable by, and non-hostile to the player, but which keep the dwarves engaged, such that, until the boss fight, none will assist you in combat. Each burrow has a cave-claw "tethered' to it, and if that cave-claw is defeated, but the burrow is not sealed, after approximately 60-75 seconds, another one is spawned to replace it (but never more than 1 tethered creature for any given burrow). This mechanic could be used to farm the various tiers of the Kharum-ubnâr Foe-slayer deeds, level-appropriate hides, and/or level-appropriate task items. Not all of the cave-claws need to be defeated in order to seal the burrows, although any remaining hostile ones will remain in the instance, even during the boss fight. At the moment the last burrow is sealed, all of the cave-claws which are engaged by the guards, will be simultaneously defeated. The "centre" of Gabilshathûr, for purposes of advancing the mission, is located at approximately [3.8S, 26.6W] When the boss spawns, Guard Ansurr and Guard-captain Gisur (and no other guards) will engage it, and those 2 dwarves are more than capable of (slowly) defeating it, without any assistance from the player.
