Gwaihir the Windlord

Description

Gwaihir the Wind-lord was the greatest of the Great Eagles during the second half of the Third Age. He is a descendant of the legendary eagle Thorondor. Gandalf the Grey once cured him of a poisonous arrow and the great eagle has helped him several times afterwards.

Players have the chance to see this great bird in the Lord of the Rings Online often.

Gwaihir meets Elladan and Elrohir at Pembar while scouring the lands south of Rivendell for any sign of the Black Riders that were swept away by the waters of the Bruinen.

Gwaihir (Lothlórien)

Gwaihir is encountered in Galadriel's Garden during the instance "The Mirror of Galadriel". He once carried Gandalf the Grey. Now he is asked by Galadriel to do so again, although the fate of the Wizard is yet unknown.

Gwaihir is encountered a second time when fighting Saruman on top of the Tower of Orthanc. The great eagle saves the adventurers that sought to challenge Saruman from his final blow and drops them safely at Fangorn's Edge.
