Walkthrough & Notes

This quest can be played again by using the Chronicle of Events, in Rivendell. Enter the Session Play instance as Laerdan. You are the equivalent of an Elite Master (with about 35k Morale) and have about 10 skills, so take a few minutes to read through and understand them all. Completing the instance will require you to be able to use all of them when needed. Clear through the various groups of mobs as you make your way farther up the hill until you reach Amarthiel. She will spawn four ranged and four melee Angmarim, and a countdown timer will begin. The idea is to survive until it expires, at which point Amarthiel will call off the attacks and the session play will end. Use your most powerful shot to take down one of the ranged Angmarim, then use your AoE incapacitate once several of the melee attackers are in ranged. Run to the other side of the platform, and then focus on taking down the other ranged Angmarim one by one. Kiting and interrupting the melee attackers while taking down the ranged ones is the key to surviving those 2 minutes.

Bestowal dialogue The Fate of Laerdan "Laerdan's delusion is complete. Once Narchuil is restored, he will give it to Amarthiel, hoping to bring back his daughter. In folly, he will doom Eriador to fall beneath the Shadows of Angmar...." Background Elrond is concerned as to the plight of Laerdan at Tham Mírdain.... Objective 1 Find Narmeleth Laerdan searches even now for his beloved daughter Narmeleth, seeking to bring her the shards of Narchuil and restore her mind. A voice cries out, 'Father, where are you?' A voice wails, 'Father I am cured. Will you not come to me?...' White-hand Chief says, "And just where do you think you are going?" White-hand Chief says, "Prisoners always please Sharkû!" White-hand Chief says, "What kind of Elf trickery is this!?" White-hand Chief says, "I will deal with this golug myself!" A voice wails, 'Father, I am scared... Will no one help me?' Narmeleth says, "Where are you father? Why do you not come?" Amarthiel says, "Welcome father." Amarthiel says, "Your Narmeleth is gone, a phantom devised for your ensnarement." Amarthiel says, "But come, father. Will you not give up the burden that you bear?" Amarthiel says, "So be it. My men will recover Narchuil from you." Amarthiel says, "All that you have known will be turned to ruin." Objective 2 Survive Amarthiel's onslaught Laerdan has been tricked. He must defend himself against the onslaught of Amarthiel, Champion of Angmar.... Amarthiel says, "Take him alive. He may still be of some use to us."
