Bestowal Dialogue

Death Comes for All
"The Rohirrim have taken the field, and the armies of Mordor cannot stand against us!"

Background

The Riders of Rohan have joined the battle, but on the fields of the Pelennor, gread deeds go hand in hand with death.

Objective 1

Guthláf is on the fields of the Pelennor, ready to ride as his king commands.

Guthláf: 'For glory and honour! Let us ride to Théoden King and make safe the fields before the city!'

Objective 2

  • Ride with Guthláf and stand with the king

The battle rages before the White City.

Guthláf says, "To the king!"
Théoden says, "Eorlingas, to me! Fear no darkness!"
Dernhelm says, "Begone, carrion-lord! Leave the dead in peace!"
Witch-king of Angmar says, "Come not between the Nazgûl and his prey."
Witch-king of Angmar says, "You will know worse things than Death in the Chamber of the Eye!"
Dernhelm says, "It is nothing to me. Still I will hinder you! "
Witch-king of Angmar says, "Say you so? No living man may hinder me!"
Dernhelm says, "But no living man am I. You look upon a woman!"
Dernhelm says, "Éowyn I am, daughter of Éomund! You stand between me and my lord and kin."
Dernhelm says, "Begone, if you be not deathless."
Dernhelm says, "I will smite if you touch him!"
Meriadoc Brandybuck says, "Éowyn! Éowyn!"

Objective 3

  • Guard Théoden during his last moments

Death has come to the Pelennor, and even kings cannot stand against it forever.

Meriadoc Brandybuck says, "My lord..."
Théoden says, "Farewell, Master Meriadoc... I go now to my fathers."
Théoden says, "Even in... their mighty company... I will not now be ashamed..."
Meriadoc Brandybuck says, "Forgive me for breaking your command, my lord..."
Théoden says, "It is forgiven. When you sit in peace... with your pipe... think of me!"
Théoden says, "But where is Éomer? He must be... king after me."
Théoden says, "And I would send... send word to Éowyn. She did not... want me to go..."
Meriadoc Brandybuck says, "My lord... she is..."
Théoden nods at you weakly, desiring to speak

Objective 4

  • Talk to Théoden

Théoden has come to the end of his road, but he has a final request of you.

Théoden: 'I have come to the end... of my road... <name>. But Rohan will go on...'
Théoden nods weakly.
'Pick up the banner... where it fell... and give it to Éomer. He must lead now...'

Objective 5

  • Pick up the fallen banner where it fell from Guthláf's hand

Théoden requested that you pick up the banner of Rohan where it fell, and give it to Éomer.

Objective 6

  • Give the banner to Éomer, as Théoden requested

Théoden has asked you to give the banner to Éomer.

Éomer: Éomer silently takes the banner from you and lifts it to the sky.

Objective 7

  • Remain on guard

Remain on guard as Éomer remembers the fallen.

Théoden says, "Hail, King of the Mark! Ride now... to victory! Bid... Éowyn... farewell..."
Éomer says, "Mourn not overmuch! Mighty was the fallen, and so too was his ending!"
Éomer says, "We will weep when his mound is raised."
Éomer says, "Gléowine! You will make a song of the dead, so they will never be forgotten!"
Éomer says, "Théoden King..."
Éomer says, "Déorwine..."
Éomer says, "How can this be? Éowyn?"
Éomer says, "Éowyn, how came you to be here? What devilry is this?"
Éomer says, "Death, death, death! Death take us all!"
Éomer says, "Death! Ride to ruin! Deeeaaath!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Death! Deeeaaath!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Death comes to all!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Death! Death!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Death!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Death!"
Rider of the Kingsfolk says, "Deeeeeeeeeaaaaaattth!"
