Here is where I want to organize my thoughts for an edit to the main Epic Quests page before actually submitting the change.
Joining the Epic Story-line at Later Points
IMPORTANT: This information may change rapidly and is likely incomplete. |
The Epic Quests do not all have to be completed sequentially, or even completed at all. If you have already completed it once, or just if you are not interested in pursuing it right now, you can complete portions of it separately. Below are the entry points into the Epic Quest line, and how they may be obtained.
- Vol. 1, Book 2: The Red Maid - This can be started any time by a character lvl 17 or greater by talking to Candaith in The Lone Lands. You do not have to complete the Foreward quest to do this Book.
- Vol. 1, Book 3: The Council of the North - This can be started any time by a character lvl 25 or greater by talking to Halbarad in his study in Esteldin. You do not have to complete the Foreward quest to do this book.
- Vol. I, Book 4: Chasing Shadows - This can be started any time by a character lvl 32 or greater by talking to Elrond in his study at The Last Homely House. You do not have to complete the Foreward quest to do this Book.
- Vol. I, Book 6: Fires in the North - This can be started any time by a character lvl 39 or greater by talking to Aragorn in the Guest Rooms in Rivendell. You do not have to complete the Foreword quest to do this Book.
Content that is Unlocked by Epic Quests
IMPORTANT: This information may change rapidly and is likely incomplete. |
Although you do not have to complete all of the Epic Quests, there are aspects of the game that can only be experienced if certain Epic Quests are completed. These are itemized below.
Game Mechanics
- Legendary Item - You can only use legendary items after completing Volume II, Book 1: The Walls of Moria. More specifically you will received your first legendary weapon from completing Vol. II, Book 1, Chapter 9: A Weapon of the Elder Days and your first legendary class item from completing Vol. II, Book 1, Chapter 13: Khazad-dûm at Last!
Locations
- Gobeth Teithian, the Archive of Traceries - This is the "shop" for new legendary items and traceries, located on the 2nd floor of the Last Homely House in Rivendell on the left hand side as you enter. It can only be entered once you have Seeker of Deep Places, which is obtained by completing Vol. II, Book 1, Chapter 12: The Watcher in the Water.
- Rammas Deluon in Angmar - The line of Watching-stones can only be safely passed if one has completed Vol. I, Book 6, Chapter 6: Challenging the Stones. Otherwise defeat awaits those who approach them.
Other Quests
- The Lost Dwarves - This can only be started if one has completed Vol. I, Book 6, Chapter 6: Challenging the Stones, as well other quests. See the quest description.
