Bestowal Dialogue
'From what we have learned, the tomb-robbers have gathered at Rantost. If the wreck of the Ectheldur were there, we would have found it long ago, so they must have some other purpose in the ruins.
'It is no simple journey to reach Rantost, but you are a practised Mariner, are you not? Lake Evendim is vast, indeed, but it is a mere drop in the Great Sea.
'Drive out the tomb-robbers at Rantost and see if any of them are carrying anythig of note. It seems they must again be reminded that they have no claim to the ruins of Arnor!'
Background
The Rangers of the North in Evendim have long sought for the wreck of the Ectheldur, the ancient banner-ship of Annúminas, but their efforts have not gone unnoticed by a band of tomb-robbers from the South.
Objective 1
- Defeat tomb-robbers at Rantost (0/8)
Tomb-robbers can be found at Rantost, on the northern islands of Lake Evendim.
Tarneth has asked you to defeat the tomb-robbers at Rantost and see why they have begun to search the old ruins.
Objective 2
Tarneth can be found in Tinnudir, on the shores of Lake Evendim.
- Tarneth: 'What is this? A map? Some sort of plan?
- 'From what I can tell, it looks like there was some great deluge long ago, and that the Lake has never receded. But how can that be? Why don't you take a closer look at it?'
Objective 3
You should examine Naegir's map and see if you notice anything else that Tarneth missed.
Objective 4
Tarneth can be found in Tinnudir, on the shores of Lake Evendim.
- Tarneth: 'I am not certain what to make of this, my friend. I would ask that you travel around the edges of Lake Evendim to survey its waters and make note of what you find. There is something unusual about this tide!
- 'I think you shall need to survey Annúminas from a few locations to make sense of these markings. You should begin your survey here in Tinnudir, and then continue your work in the Eavespires, Men Erain, and on the isle of Tyl Ruinen. That should be enough! Here, you may borrow my spy-glass to aid in your survey, but do take care of it. It is quite valuable to me!
- 'You are no stranger to such work, are you? Very good. I shall await your return, <name>!'
Objective 5
Tarneth has asked you to survey Lake Evendim from several locations using her spy-glass.
You should travel to Tinnudir, the Eavespires, Men Erain, and the isle of Tyl Ruinen and survey Lake Evendim. You can survey Lake Evendim near each of the dock-masters at these locations.
Objective 6
Tarneth can be found in Tinnudir, on the shores of Lake Evendim.
- Tarneth: 'Did you notice anything interesting in the course of your survey, <name>?
- You tell Tarneth that based on your survey, some of the markings on Naegir's map appear to correspond to islands on Lake Evendim. However, the locations provided appear to denote islands and other land that has since been overtaken by the waters of Lake Evendim. Tarneth takes the map, and studies it once again.
- 'Wait a moment, if that marking is correct, I think we may have found the wreck of the Ectheldur! There is no time to explain, <name>. There is an island near one of these markings, and I suspect we will find what we seek there!'
Objective 7
Tarneth can be found in Tinnudir, on the shores of Lake Evendim.
- Tarneth: 'Come, my friend! We must reach the Ectheldur before the tomb-robbers figure it out for themselves!'
- Complete the Instance: The Fate of the Ectheldur
Objective 8
- Talk to Tarneth in Tinnudir.
Tarneth can be found in Tinnudir, on the shores of Lake Evendim.
- Tarneth: 'I can hardly believe that we found the Ectheldur, let alone recovered Alwedion's Forestaff, but we must keep secret what we have learned this day, my friend. The Blue Lady has long been a friend to the Dúnedain, and we must repay her kindness in turn. I only hope that one day Gwindeth will deem it safe enough to lower the waters of Lake Evendim and that Annúminas might one day have its beauty restored.
- 'You have done a great service to the Dúnedain, <name>, and your deeds will not soon be forgotten. A Mariner of your skill and expertise will be a great ally in the days to come, my friend. I expect we shall call upon you again soon!'
