- Visually, the spots are merely glowy/sparkly initially, and then an ice "spike" appears, when the grim super-freezes it, and it's ready to be collected.
- It is easy to lapse into "kill" mode and defeat the grims before remembering to lure them over to the highlighted areas. But a single grim can be used to super-freeze multiple spots, if necessary. Or, wait until the grims respawn.
- Luring the grims can be tricky, however, since they have ranged skills (thus standing in line of sight doesn't necessarily get them to move), but if moving out of line-of-sight, they often get "stuck", or simply burrow. Approaching them usually terminates the burrowing; at which time another attempt to move them may be made. The use of companions (Lore-master and Captain) can add another layer of complexity, especially if they are ranged; careful use of passive/aggressive/guard and assist on/off controls will likely be required. Or, dispense with the companion altogether, for this mission, or use only melee companions.
- The spikes seem to last indefinitely, so it's not an issue if one forgets to collect the ice and moves onto another area; you can always go back and fetch it (but might have to fight through the respawns).
- Unlike the other mission which uses essentially the same map (Mission: Hall of Ice (Instance)), there are no camp-fires in the instance with which to remove the persistent cold debuff. Camp-fires (made by the Cook profession) can be used, if desired, and Hunters may make a Bright Camp-fire.
- The area consists of basically one labyrinthine area joined to another labyrinthine area by a bridge. Falling off the side of the bridge is fatal (death by misadventure), and since the grims have a knockback, it is possible (though unlikely) that with bad facing and worse luck, one can be knocked off the side of the bridge to one's demise. Watch your facing in that area!
- The scout and chest do not appear near the entrance, they appear in the far cluster of passageways of the instance, over the bridge, in the north branch.
- After completing your objectives, there is a limited time (2 minutes) before you will be automatically ejected from the instance. You need to find and open the "Mission Reward" chest before this happens. Defeating more enemies does not reset the timer!
