Bestowal Dialogue

Too Far from the City
"Osgiliath is lost, and its defenders flee across the plain. Can they reach the White City before the enemy overtakes them?"

Background

The time has come for you to ride to Minas Tirith, but the enemy will be close on your heels.

Objective 1

You can hear the sound of fighting ahead of you, in the middle of the Pelennor. Someone needs your help!

Derufin says, "There is someone off the road!"
Duilin says, "We must help them!"
You have found Faramir, but the young captain is hard-pressed on all sides!

Objective 2

  • Talk to Faramir on the Pelennor Fields

Faramir, Captain of Gondor, is beset on all sides by the forces of the enemy! You must help him reach Minas Tirith!

Derufin says, "Captain Faramir!"
Faramir: 'I do not know you, but I can tell by your livery that you are a friend! My men and I must reach the White City, but we were pursued. Southrons harry us on foot and on horseback, and terrible wraiths attack from the skies!
'Fight them off, my friend! We must reach the city, if we can!'
  • Fight alongside Faramir, Captain of Gondor
Faramir says, "The enemy draws near! Fight!"
A dart flies right by your head, missing by inches, and then another!
Derufin says, "Faramir has fallen!"

Objective 3

  • Stand beside Faramir, and defend him from his foes

Faramir has fallen from his horse! He seems to have suffered a terrible injury.

Duilin says, "The White Rider!"
Prince Imrahil says, "For Gondor! For Faramir!"
Gandalf says, "<name>!"

Objective 4

Gandalf has crossed the field in the company of Prince Imrahil and his swan-knights, and he motions for you to speak with him.

Gandalf: 'Faramir has sustained a wound, <name>. Soon the enemy will surround us... he cannot stay here.
'Ride for the city! I will follow with Faramir and Prince Imrahil. Go now!'

Objective 5

  • Ride for the gates of Minas Tirith

Gandalf has commanded you to ride for the city of Minas Tirith, while he follows with Prince Imrahil and the wounded Faramir.

Gandalf says, "Ride for the city!"
You have come to Minas Tirith in time!
