Corsairs of Umbar

The Corsairs of Umbar are a faction of pirates based out of the independent city of Umbar.

The Corsairs formed after the Kin-strife of Gondor, when the Sons of Castamir escaped the besieged city of Pelargir on ships, and established an independent government in Umbar in opposition of Gondor.

The Corsairs are aligned with the Haradrim, and their people have mixed blood over the many years, losing much of their original Númenórean heritage.

The most recent incursion of Corsairs was during the Battle of Pelennor Fields, when they formed a raid against Lebennin. Aragorn and his Army of the Dead wiped out the raiders and commandeered their ships.
