Walkthrough & Notes

Head from Aragorn toward the Last Homely House to Elrond who is at the lower level of his library, at the second floor of the halls, in the southern wing Many players have encountered a bug where, after completion of Book 3 Chapter 7 in Rivendell, Aragorn does not happen to carry this quest. If you have encountered this bug, travel to Elrond and you will be given Vol. I. Book 4 Chapter 1. If Elrond doesn't carry the quest, travel to Thorenhad and you will instead be given Vol. I. Book 4 Chapter 2 from Elladan. The bug could cause you to skip the Foreword and Chapter 1 of Volume 1 Vol. I. Book 4. Neither does it work to travel to Heithur Ironfist at Barachen's Camp, who is a secondary giver of this quest. When you receive the quest from Heithur Ironfist, the bestowal dialog is the same as when it is bestowed by Aragon.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'Welcome to Rivendell, where you will find the Last Homely House east of the Sea, <name>. The road to Imladris is not as forgiving as once it was, and I commend you for your efforts. 'I hope the waters of the Ford have calmed since our passage; we left them in turmoil. I fear the cause of these troubles is not yet concluded. 'Lord Elrond is the master of this house; he should be given news of your arrival. You will find him in his library on the upper floor of the Last Homely House, to the northeast.' Background Aragorn has asked that you speak with Elrond concerning a matter of gravest import for Rivendell. Objective 1 Talk to Elrond Elrond waits in the library on the upper floor of his house. Aragorn asked that you present yourself to Elrond, the master of the Last Homely House. Elrond: 'The path you took to my doorstep has been perilous, <name>, and its dangers all too common in these dark days. If you will consent to lend us your aid, it will not be the least of your challenges.'
